Jio Platforms Limited is an Indian multinational technology company headquartered in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was established on 15 November 2019 by Reliance Industries as a wholly owned subsidiary created to hold the group’s digital and technology businesses within a single entity. Mukesh Ambani founded the company, Akash Ambani serves as chairman and Kiran Thomas is chief executive officer.
The company operates as a holding company rather than a consumer brand. Its largest asset is Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, India’s biggest mobile network operator, but the wider portfolio spans consumer applications, enterprise software, connectivity infrastructure and research. Consumer platforms include JioTV, JioSaavn, JioCloud, JioMeet, JioMart, JioNews and JioSphere. Enterprise offerings cover JioMeet for Business and JioGST. Subsidiaries include Jio Haptik, Radisys, EasyGov and Reliance Infratel.
Jio Platforms builds and sells an indigenous end to end 5G stack. The portfolio covers O-RAN compliant 5G radio products, a hyper-scalable combined 5G and 4G core, OSS and BSS solutions, network slicing, multi-access edge computing and 6G research. JioBrain, unveiled in 2024, delivers machine learning as a service integrated with 5G networks and received a SKOCH Award in 2025. The company was also honoured with the World Intellectual Property Organisation National Award for Enterprises in 2024.
In 2020 the company raised roughly 152,056 crore rupees by selling a 32.97 per cent equity stake to a group of global investors. Meta acquired 9.99 per cent and Google acquired 7.7 per cent, alongside investments from Silver Lake, General Atlantic, KKR, Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, TPG, L Catterton, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Intel and Qualcomm. Reliance Industries retains approximately 67 per cent ownership.
For the financial year ended 31 March 2025 the company reported revenue of about 128,218 crore rupees, operating income of about 64,170 crore rupees and net income of about 26,109 crore rupees. In June 2026 Jio Platforms filed draft documents for an initial public offering.
