The National Dairy Development Board, known as NDDB, is an Indian institution established to support the development of the country’s dairy sector through cooperative structures. It operates from Anand in Gujarat.
The organisation works with dairy cooperatives and producer institutions rather than selling directly to consumers. Its remit covers strengthening milk producer organisations, improving productivity and animal health, supporting milk procurement and processing infrastructure, and applying technology and management practice across the dairy value chain.
Because the Indian dairy sector is built largely on large numbers of small producers, the organisation’s work is oriented towards aggregation, quality systems and shared infrastructure that individual producers could not fund alone.
It uses the cooperative top level domain for its website, which reflects the cooperative basis of the institutions it supports.
